This past weekend has been one for the books in LA. I want to disclose I am in no way saying it is worse than the events and weather of the mid west and east coast but it is another type of weather on it’s own. Starting Wednesday the storms were insane throughout the night, the windows were shaking from the rain and thunder. I am still quite shocked that Emma slept through it without waking even once. Being from Seattle I thought it was another rainstorm and nothing of it, and actually quite enjoyed the break from sunshine. I have always found thunderstorms to be an odd type of soothing. Then comes Thursday… the rain continued, pretty much non stop, power went out here and there. Again I can’t lie, I was still slightly enjoying it, that is until Friday came. After dropping Emma at school I came home to five firetrucks on our street alone. Several trees had been fully uprooted from the storm and on their way down fully taking out power lines. One of the trees straight through the center of a few cars down the road. Still nothing like what the other coast has experienced but anyone who has animals knows how fun being without power is as far as they are concerned. The streets were fully flooded (the drain system throughout LA is not exactly up to par) and there were flash flood warnings across the board. Thankfully for me it only slightly interferred with work and my ability to get our slightly overweight pup (he decided he would lay down for a quick nap at each landing) up the flights of stairs to our top floor unit. Sunday came and the sunshine decided to stay for a bit of a break so of course we had to head outside for brunch and to soak (horrible lame pun intended) it all in!
